Our Story.
We acknowledge that the land CircoBats Community Circus operates on is the traditional lands for the Kaurna people and that we respect their spiritual relationship with their Country. We also acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the Adelaide region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Kaurna people today.

CircoBats is a not-for-profit organisation that was founded by the late Franky Charman-Green in 2008. Franky was an esteemed figure in the Adelaide circus community and has left a vibrant legacy for people of all ages and stages to enjoy. Both of Franky's daughters, Alex and Zoe Charman, continue to share their mother’s passion in circus and play a vital role in CircoBats classes, performances and general operations.
Since 2009, CircoBats was lead by Head Trainer, Leanne Hamilton-Kinnear. Leanne has dedicated a lot of her time and energy into CircoBats, and has helped the community circus group flourish and succeed in its various endeavours. In mid-2016, the position of Head Trainer was transferred to Alex Charman, as Leanne dealt with the loss of her daughters and beautiful Circobats performers, Caitlin and Willow Hamilton. Their shining personalities and colourful energies continue to, and always will, be missed. Leanne continues to work as the CircoBats President and has been heavily involved in creating and maintaining the new CircoBats training space.
As of 2016, CircoBats branched out to become CircoBats Community Circus and now offers an exciting range of fully inclusive classes for young and old. It is a volunteer led organisation that aims to keep its priority on the community and engagement of all that attend. The community aims to make circus accessible for all financially, physically and in any other way we can. Contact us if you require any assistance to start or continue circusing.
